BlackBerry DTEK50 16 GB Black

09.11.2016 at 16:20 Updated: 10.11.2016 at 00:07 The Canadian manufacturer practically no longer produces its own smartphones. The latest was the BlackBerry Priv. The gadget also distinguished itself by its work under the Android OS, and not the BlackBerry OS. But the company does not intend to leave the market at all and in the future plans to license the brand to other manufacturers. The announcement of the first such model (DTEK50) took place in the summer, and quite recently the second model of this line appeared. Today we will talk about the collaboration between BlackBerry and TCL, which resulted in the DTEK50. The packaging and its contents do not stand out in any way. The gadget will be delivered to the customer in a black cardboard box decorated with company logos and white lettering. The set includes a charger with a detachable cable, a headset, a paper clip and documentation. During the initial setup, the device prompts you to install a couple of applications (GDocs, WatchDox, and Password Keeper). But besides BlackBerry DTEK50 16 GB Black  this, the system has a set of proprietary applications and a couple of add-ons. Fortunately, the appearance of the Android OS has hardly changed. Not without difficulties. With some Android devices, it happens that they do not "pick up" cellular data and do not give access to the settings for the transfer of this data. The error is quite old and occurs on devices from different manufacturers, not just BlackBerry. A quick search on the Web showed that with a few reboots, the issue could be resolved, but in the future the problem repeated itself. The BlackBerry Forum offered a simpler and more reliable solution - turning off the Pin code. Since then, the error has not manifested itself. Externally, the device almost completely repeats the design of Alcatel Idol 4, only the back cover is covered with rubberized plastic, not glass. Although it is not so beautiful, it is much more practical. The body itself is small (like for a smartphone with a 5.2-inch display) and easy to use: 147 x 72.5 x 7.4 mm, and weighs 135 grams. There is no tangible difference with, for example, the iPhone 6/7 in the case, but the display is still larger. And so it turns out, the dimensions of the gadget are quite convenient for those who are used to the already standard sizes of smartphones. Users who like smaller devices (like the iPhone SE or something similar) will take a little getting used to, but it won't take long. As just mentioned, the back cover of the device is made of rubberized plastic, but the frame is metal, painted black and with polished silver edges. The display, of course, is covered with glass. The exterior design stands out slightly from other smartphones. The bezel / base is slightly larger than the display area and back. Above and below, such "steps" are obtained on which the speakers are located. Immediately I don’t remember another smartphone with this design. In any case, against the background of modern competitors, there is no such design move. Someone likes this, some don't. Personally, I liked it a little. Where the engineers and designers clearly went wrong is in the placement of the buttons. The smartphone is turned on with the button on the left, and on the right there is a volume rocker and a universal button (its action is set by the user). It so happened that holding the smartphone in your right hand, reaching for the power button is not very convenient. The universal button is much better located (resembles the power button on Sony smartphones), but when the screen is off, it is inactive. Subjectively, the headphone and charging / sync jacks would also be better positioned in the center of the case. Then, if connected to any acoustics (or any other accessory with a universal dock,) the installation would be better. There were no other obvious problems with ergonomics. And despite the shortcomings, the smartphone turned out to be quite good. Only the back side looks cheap, the puffy plastic does not add much "premium" to the appearance, although it is very practical (it is more difficult to damage it and it is not slippery at all). As for the rest, the smartphone is convenient to use (the issue with the button is solved by a double tap on the display to turn it on) and visually it is quite neutral. But BlackBerry gadgets do not usually place a strong emphasis on design; the company is primarily concerned with security and user experience. On the other hand, leaving the rear panel glass (like https://jiji.ug/kampala/mobile-phones/blackberry-dtek50-16-gb-black-aT3bKxbP1XJM9wYcSH53JmVP.html
